I have heard that if you maintain a 2.0 minimum. gpa. and you have a guaranteed spot at the USNA. What’s with that?

If you have an offer of NAPS, you are guarenteed a seat in the upcoming class at USNA, PROVIDING you complete the program of classes at NAPS successfully… which is a 2.0

Thus, the saying “2.0 - good to go”

and…to just to make certain, you must be in good performance and conduct standing.

2.0 and go.
1.9 and whine.
1.8 and wait.

etc…

yah a 2.0 will get you by, but don’t shoot for that. Shoot for a 3.0 if anything. At NAPS, your liberty is based on your grades, if have 2.0, you’ll get liberty, but you won’t get any overnights. What that means is that you won’t be able to stay out past midnight on the weekends. You’ll have to be back by 2345 every weekend night for muster, which after awhile sucks, especially when you see other people still out on liberty.

liberty goes like such…

yes, you can get weekday libo at naps… you just have to be back by 2030…
once you see everyone else go out on liberty while your staying back at ripley(the barracks) you get a little bit more motivated to do good.

also having a good grad will give you privliges if you haven’t noticed. One of the big things here was that you couldn’t go watch the College Football Championship unless you had a 3.0 or better. The same with the superbowl. So some people missed the superbowl because of their grades.

So if you shoot for a 3.0, you should be just fine, and remember that your service selection at the academy is dependent on how well you do academically, militarily, and physically. But mostly academically. So if you want SEAL’s, EOD, or any other spec ops, you better have good grades, or your not getting it. The same thing goes for everything else, SWO, NFO, Pilot, USMC, SUB, its all grades. Usually you will get your first pick, but I wouldn’t push your luck. Lets say you wanted to go Surface Warfare. If you have the best overall GPA out of everyone else, then you will be able to pick where you want to be stationed and what type of ship you want to be on.

pretty much, put in as much effort as you can…
