Nashville-Bound

Re: old horses and new tricks…

I just accepted a job with a company in Nashville, so H and I are going to move from our beloved Texas. It is our first “adult” relocation and we are petrified.
I will get a lot of relocation help from the company, but would appreciate any input from any of you who live in Nashville or know the area.

We probably want to rent a house until we get a feel for the place. We have animals- one of which is very large! We like to be able to run in the neighborhood (i.e. right out the door) and need to be fairly close to restaurants and stores, since I haven’t mastered cooking.

My office will be downtown.
I am excited and nervous, but need this career move to be able to pay for my very expensive kids.

Congratulations and good luck. Sorry I know nothing to help you.

If you want to be able to run you better move to bellemeade, bellevue, or brentwood. Brentwood would be your best choice because there is a huge shopping complex with nice housing (although expensive)

I definitely recommend [Craig’s list](http://nashville.craigslist.com). Best thing since sliced bread.

Congratulations, MOWC! Sounds like a great job, and everything I’ve learned about Nashville shows it to be a wonderful city. The area around Vanderbilt is lovely, though I’m sure we could never afford to live there! Every time we go I check out the real estate section in The Tennessean and my eyes about pop out. Then again, our area of the US has fairly low housing costs and we wouldn’t have much to work with if we did move.

My d usually runs around the perimeter of the Vandy campus (as do a million other people) and feels very safe doing so. I haven’t noticed many folks running dogs on that route, but Centennial Park is right across the street.

I’m completely sold on Nashville. I strongly agree with Faline that the people are friendly - remarkably so! Best wishes for a smooth move and much happiness there.
