Nate. Because we haven't had enough hurricanes yet.

Nate is predicted to hit Louisiana and Mississippi as a Cat 2 hurricane tonight. It’s zooming across the Gulf, and will bring storm surges of 7-11 feet to the coast, and, because it is so fast, hurricane force winds well inland.

It’s supposed to make landfall around the time of the full moon high tide, exacerbating the storm surge.

It’s predicted to rip up north, then skim the US Coast from NJ to Maine as a tropical storm.

Everyone be careful out there.

I live in the path, and so far so good. The speed is actually beneficial, not just for getting rid of it sooner but because fast storms tend to blow themselves apart. Still, they were predicting only Cat 1 as recently as last night and saying it would only become a hurricane just before it hit land. Oops, wrong about that…

The dewpoint here is so low, like 80. The humidity is ridiculous. “The air you wear” I head someone describe it because it’s so heavy.

At least it isn’t hitting Texas or Florida again, too bad the entire Gulf coast is likely to feel the effects of a hurricane this season. Wait- not sure all of the Texas coastline was affected. Houston’s hit more than makes up for that. Let the southern part wait for another year or more.

I’m afraid climate changes are beginning to catch up with humanity. It doesn’t matter if humans contributed but- the times they are a changing… The golden age is passing.

My H is in New England and I asked him to bring me back some pretty fall leaves and he said they haven’t even started to change. That’s crazy! He was up by Burlington and Portland too.

Leaf season is late but they’re changing. A lot of action in the past 4-5 days. Looking at a gorgeous maple out my window.

Stay safe all you Gulf Coast folks!

Not much color change where I am at all and it’s been summer the past month.

Our leaves have barely changed. Today we had a family swim before our Canadian Thanksgiving dinner. That hasn’t happened before. Crazy summer weather for all over September and now into the second week of October.

A director friend is supposed to fly to N.O. tomorrow to start a pre-Broadway tour. Not sure if that is going to be possible.

I’m hoping to see some leaves when I go to Kansas the end of October. It has been warm there too. (No leaves here in Houston just dead leaves from Harvey).

@wis75 I grew up on the Gulf Coast and there was a year like this in the 80’s. There wasn’t a major hurrican that made landfall in 11 (?) years until this year. In years that conditions are favorable, like Katrina, there will be storm after storm.

Nothing much happened where I live, west of the landfall. Less than an inch of rain. Mayor lifted the curfew.

I remember a year in the 90’s where Pensacola was hit twice. Iris and Opal, I believe. I had never experienced a year where we went up to O or P in the hurricane names. I think Sandy broke that record.

The 2005 season broke that record. They ran out of names and had to go to Greek letters. I never even knew that was a thing before that year.

The temps in SE Georgia are crazy hot today. Pumpkin spice humidity.

My GA kid says…Nate is now a tropical depression. They expect lots of rain…and possible tornado warnings.

I think the whole east coast is hot…and HUMID. It’s awful here today!!

When we got home after midnight from the theatre last night, it was still 71 out - in upstate NY. And it 80 right now and very humid. Supposed to get dumped on tomorrow from remnants of Nate. We need the rain desperately so I’m happy about it.

H’s flights may be impacted tomorrow. He is leaving Boston and connecting at JFK. Jet Blue called and offered a direct flight for a free change but he missed the call and now that one is full. Oh joy, weather at JFK…

It’s the new normal – in fact, it could be getting worse year by year. Those in coastal areas or areas prone to flooding/tornadoes/fires – be safe… and consider moving

There is a reason we chose an area people evacuate TO when coming to Tampa.

First hurricane in a dozen years. Losing power for a week, not much fun. Still, I recall losing power when I lived in Boston. Of course, food didn’t go bad there, but no one would drive to office.
