National AP Scholar and college acceptance

According to a document on collegeboard ( http://professionals.collegeboard.com/profdownload/2008_AP_Scholar_Counts.xls ), there were 836 National AP Scholars in the US that were juniors and applying to college. Since there are so few (compared to 11,686 National AP Scholars total), it's obviously an impressive accomplishment.

I'm curious, if any of you National AP Scholars are out here, where did you end up getting accepted? Which school are you attending now?

Hey, a good way to find this data would be a quick jaunt through the stats profiles section. I assume most recipients would list national AP scholar as major award, in any event.

Sorry I can't exactly answer your question, because I'm not a former National Scholar, but I can say that while they may be a bit impressed, they're probably more interested in you if you took a lot of the harder ones; i.e., calc bc, physics c, and also probably if you took a wide variety of subjects... That's why I took a history, and am taking two englishes, a math, and a science.

I am curious as well to the benefits of a National AP Scholar by junior year.

Only 836 each year? That's about the number of kids that get 2350+ on the SAT each year.

In 2009 report year, 1,996 scores were 2350+.

http://professionals.collegeboard.com/profdownload/sat_percentile_ranks_composite_cr_m_w.pdf

Whoops, I guess I underestimated a little (2:34am thinking)

The number is for 2008, I believe every year the number is increasd dramatically. Say 2009, there might be 1500 people.

"I'm curious, if any of you National AP Scholars are out here, where did you end up getting accepted? Which school are you attending now"

Are you talking about AP Scholars who are juniors?

Isn't high school diploma required to apply to college? How can they apply to college if they still need the senior year courses to complete the requirement for hish school graduation?

Yes he is talking about Nat AP Scholar by JUNIOR year.

You do not need a high school diploma to apply to college along as you are currently enrolled into a high school and on track to graduation before college freshman year
