I’m just wondering which one looks more appealing to colleges. I know that the best case would be to receive both, but I see advantages in both. National on the surface sounds superior, but receiving State AP Scholar sounds prestigious in the sense that you are the only male/female to receive it.

so which is better? Next year, I aim for getting both trying to make a 5 average and getting over 8 exams in total so I’d get national
would 10 exams be a definite state Scholar (hoping i get 5’s on all)?

In my perspective, State AP Scholar is the highest honor because you took the most exam and have the highest AP grade average than anyone out of the whole state u live in.

About your goal being State AP Scholar, I think I remember that you have to take the most ap exams. If you and some other people have the same number of exams, then collegeboard will see who has the highest ap grade average. So, u have to take more exams than 10.

You are heavily underestimating State AP Scholar. In my state [Florida], you would need to do 23+ AP exams and have great scores on all of them to get state ap scholar. I don’t think 10 exams will cut it in ANY state, although I do believe there are states where you can get state with <15 exams.

National AP Scholar is a good goal. Only about 700-800 students in the nation get it, and it can actually be attained before college admission time. Very few people can manage state ap scholar before their senior year, and even then, you don’t get anything for any of them.

go to collegeboard site. yes, about 800 get ap national scholar after junior year. in SC there were only 4 last year(after junior year). I am a rising senior in SC. I will be one of very few(may be 3 or 4) with ap national scholar this year. send mail to vdeeconda@hotmail.com, if you have more questions.

so I’ve gotten 5’s on all three exams I’ve taken so far (you really can’t load up on AP’s until junior year) so wow state seems really daunting now - oh well…I’ll try
