Yeah, getting this scholarship will mean the world for me…I’m really hoping.

@Shoozer: If you get matched and don’t make it early, then chances are, you probably wouldn’t have been able to make it without QB you know? Like, this will give you the benefit, because like say some other school, if you don’t make it into ED, I don’t know if you can even still apply for regular decision. But for QB, you can still apply (free) for RD even if you don’t make ED.

I think it’s a win-win situation.

I’m not sure about your second question. I’m doing this for the scholarship…which I really need, lol.

@Ju_liaa, what do you have to do that’s left? It just seems like you’ve been helping all of us out on this forum for months now, so I’m surprised things are pushed for you. I mean, it’s pushed for me but that’s only because I procrastinated…alot. I’m really regretting it now.

@Crystal91: Just that I’m missing two counselor recs, and that my teacher who looked at my essay today didn’t find it satisfactory T_T

I have to make it as perfect as i can this week and then send it out during the weekend. Just worried that i won’t have done my best by the time the 30th rolls around…

@crystal

What if I want to ED another school? I want to apply to Oberlin, but not ED it. I want to ED a different college. So if I’m not a finalist, then that’s cool because I still have time to ED that college. What if I am a finalist? Can I still ED?

What if you’re a finalist and you don’t make it to any of the QB partner colleges in both ED and RD? Are you screwed?

And can I use the QuestBridge application for Regular Decisions only, skipping the ED?

@ shoozer: No, you cannot apply ED or EA to any other school if you’re a finalist. And yes, you can skip the Match (as in , not rank any schools) and just take advantage of the RD part. That’s kind of what I’m doing too (I’m just going to rank non-binding schools).

Last year there was a QuestBridge finalist (whom I know in real life) who didn’t get matched, but did an early action application into his favorite college (submitted only AFTER he knew his National College Match results), which admitted him. The dates this year are such that you could do the same. That applicant still found QuestBridge very helpful.

Check with QuestBridge when the time comes about details of this year’s rules, to make sure to follow those.

Hey all.
So I just figured out that I only had 9 days till the deadline! Yikes.
I only have one good essay done. My other 500 word one is crap, and haven’t started the bio.
So I’ve been working on that today, and will do so continuously till the deadline comes.

I wanted to discuss something with you guys.
I absolutely love Questbridge and all, but I’ve been reading posts from earlier years, which include information about scary low double-digit quotas and such from colleges. ***??? I thought they were all supposed to be need-blind? Is it even worth it applying through questbridge college match, if the colleges only select so little from that pool? Wouldn’t regular early decision to a single college be simpler- where the colleges can be entirely need-blind and not worry about accepting too many people from a single organization?

Of course I understand the merits of being able to apply to 8 schools early and all, but I wanted to hear everyone’s opinion on this matter. I think I’ll go through with the early match regardless of anything. With my grades, I don’t see myself having much of a shot early decision at columbia.

I have the basics of the autobiography essay done, and only need to add a little more detail to get the word count up. As for the other two, I have an idea for one and haven’t started on the other… I’m hoping to get all of it done by the end of the week, but it just seems impossible…

Only one of my recs have been sent in. My counselor is faxing them so they might show up in a few days. And I’m not too sure about my other teacher…she tends to forget stuff. I’ll remind her thursday should the QB status be the same.

Also, is the November SAT too late for college consideration if I am a finalist and decide to go through with the match process?

Just a reminder to thank the teachers and GCs who are doing your recs. :)

Can we send our SAT scores to colleges that we’re going to rank now?
Or do we have to send them after finalist results are announced on Oct. 23?

I don’t see why not. Ds sent his scores to his no. 1 school, finalist or not, when he took the SAT in June.

It’s always a good idea to send test scores to colleges as soon as you have identified those colleges as colleges of interest.

Common Application ID
If you are applying to/ranking a college that requires you to fill out a Common Application in addition to this QuestBridge application, please provide your seven digit Common Application ID number so the colleges can identify your corresponding application.

I found this in the questbridge application. Does this apply only when you become a finalist? Or is it good to fill it out now.

But won’t thoe scores get lost if you don’t have some kind of application before hand. Like let’s say you didn’t become a finalist and just started to send in your scores, are you also filling out their application at the same time. (sry if this is confusing, I’m trying to finish this message before I leave.)

1) If I was selected as a delegate to a leadership conference, I can put that on the Academic Honors section, right?

2) My school only goes up to A’s. The Transcript section on the application has A+s. What do I do?

3) I got a 3 on the AP World exam, should I list it? (I took 4 other exams, and got a 5/5/5/4)

4) If I got 1st place at Science Olympiad Regionals and 1st place at Science Olympiad States, should I list the two as two separate awards, or should I combine them?

Omg i have a bunch of questions too T_T this is crazy. On an even brighter note, my GC is now gonna be gone till next Monday! ■■■.

1) Is it ok to put in a not so conventional photo? I’m jumping in mine XD

2) Will they hate you if you don’t refer students? I don’t know any other kids at my school who would need all of this FA AND have the grades to apply…

3) Is the noncustodial waiver due for the finalist round?

4) Is the summer school trnscript part for if you took any classes in unis/ colleges over the summer? Or for actual summer school… XD haven;t gone to that since 5th grade.

5) 3 on AP art, should i report? I have 5 other tests (5,4,4,4,4)

6) How do i let QB know that I’m about to take 2 other SAT 2s in October? Is it even possible to let them know…

If anyone can take the time to answer any one of these questions, i will be incredibly thankful!

@Powerbomb:

1) Yeah that’s an honor.

2) Write exactly what is on your actual school transcript on the online QB transcript.

3) I’m in the same pickle here >_< 3 on art AP

4) 2 separate awards because you could have still gone to states without having placed first in regionals right?

okay, don’t have a lot i=of time here, but here goes.

Put everything forward. Are you seriously thinking a three is going to look bad after multiple 5’s and 4’s???
Non conventional photo is fine, they are not looking for super models.

Don’t worry about referring student’s, QB just wants you to promote their program. My D went to a HS where there was probably 2% of students that would be eligible for QB, most of whom she did not know. She has since done more at here HS, flyers, word of mouth etc. Also, if you are matched, your rec teachers get a HUGE plaque from QB thanking them for theire participation. That alone has garnered more interest in the QB program than anything.

For the next class of students of your school, let others know about QB and the opportunities that they have.

Ju…liaa is there not a spot to list pending test scores? If I remember correctly, you could list them under SAT 11 scores, then put down the date which you will take them, thus they will realize you are going to take them.

@MOM: Thanks so much for helping me out!

Anyone wanna take a stab at there two of my questions?:

3) Is the noncustodial waiver due for the finalist round?

4) Is the summer school transcript part for if you took any classes in unis/ colleges over the summer? Or for actual summer school. Haven’t gone to that since 5th grade.
