National debate forum boston OR CTY??

Hi.
This summer I’m pretty free so I’m deciding on whether to go to debate camp with the national debate forum or go to CTY lancaster. i have a couple of questions on both
CTY:
Does this look bad on college applications because it’s really babyish?
What class should I take if i’m a rising sophmore?
Whats the best site to go to?

National Debate forum:
Is there anything SOCIAL at this camp?
Should i have a case prepared for this camp?
Does this camp look good on college applications?

Thanks!!

bumppp come on people

NATIONAL DEBATE FORUM.

I’ve heard CTY’s prestige is not much different than other university pre-college programs. National Debate Forum can really supplement any other debate activities you have. Whether or not the program is meant to be a fun social one, undoubtly us stupid teenagers will find a way to have fun.

There’s also Stanford National Forensic Institute if you want to check that out.

VBI is the best ! I can’t go this year but I went last year.

SNFI is preferable if you’re a beginner.

I haven’t heard of the debate program, so I can’t really make a comparison. I don’t know if CTY is prestigious or not, but my son went to CTY Lancaster for several years and absolutely loved it. He also learned enough computer programming to be able to accelerate into upper-level university courses during his senior year of high school. But he didn’t think of it as a way to impress college admissions comms; he just had a blast, learned a lot, and made terrific friends.

Lancaster is, I think, the biggest and one of the oldest CTY sites and has a lot of eccentric traditions. The kids who go there think it’s the best site, but I’m sure kids who go elsewhere disagree.

If your going to the national debate forum in LD, ill see you there.

Dont do it for college admissions, dont do anything just for college admissions. if you want to learn about debate, go to NDF, if you dont, then dont go. simple as that.

I believe it’s too late to register for CTY; the late admission deadline was 6/15.

You can, however, go next year. I took fast paced HS chem and physics during my last 2 years at CTY and they really help prepare you for taking APChem/Physics C in school.
