Hello all, long time reader but first time poster. I appreciate the information provided and I wanted to get the community’s opinion on an internship I was offered recently. I’m a civil/environmental engineering student at a college in Southern California entering my junior year. I’ve been offered a watershed quality internship with the United States Forest Service. It’s a two month, stipend paid project, occurring over the summer of 2017 and seems like a great opportunity. I was very excited to be offered the position. Here’s the catch. The job site is 2 hours from where I live and does not provide housing. I was really hoping they’d house me but I’m prepared to try and find temporary housing in the area. If you all were in my shoes, would you do whatever it takes to secure the internship? I guess I’m asking truly how important it would be for my job search post grad. Thanks for the time!
