@oaksinfog Congratulations to him! Happy to see he was offered that amount ?. With them it’s kind of tricky to figure out what kind of NHRP scholarship will be offered because they advertise now “up to 30K” and really don’t want to tell you an exact amount.
In my daughter’s case, also accepted to Engineering, they offer her $15k the first year and $7,500 per full semester for upper- class years. They did offer her their University Grant which is part of the Northeastern Promise initiative. But we still feel they lowered her merit aid because of our financial need.
Best of luck!
Quick update re: scholarship.
During the week following my 4-19 post my wife talked with FA regarding the reduction of her income due to COVID-19. A couple of days after her phone call we were pleasantly surprised to receive an email saying that our son’s scholarship was increased by $5000 for a total of $30,000.
For all recognized in 2020, if you were invited to apply because you were over the cutoff for your region/state and you were confirmed by your school official to be over the minimum 3.5 GPA, are you guaranteed to be recognized? My son got a 1460 in WA and has a 3.54 GPA and is half Hispanic, so I’m wondering if there is any way he can get rejected. Thanks from a new member.
@kethra (Just to clarify, the NHRP no longer exists. It is CBRP for class of 2021.) If your son is over the cutoff and has the minimum GPA, as long as the form is signed by a counselor and submitted, the award should be automatic, as was the case for NHRP.
Thanks so much @evergreen5! I knew about the change to CBRP for class of 2021, but I figured that the class of 2020 might be in a better position to answer my question based on their experience of having gone through the process. Much appreciated!
