I’m new to CC. I was wondering if you could share what PSAT score your child got. We live in MD too and it doesn’t seem like they publish cutoff scores for each region. Is that correct?
My daughter had a 1360 and was NHRP, but I did find this. Gives you an idea for each region .
I called the college board today and I was told that the score qualifying index for each region for those that took the PSAT in 2019 will be released mid march.
Btw, I also found out that this time other ethnicities will be included as well( eg African American) not just Latinos. So I don’t know if this will make it harder to be a NHRP.
@Texashorses I don’t think that the NHRP program is being changed. Rather other recognition programs are apparently being added. See https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt-psat-10/scholarships-and-recognition/recognition-programs
@EngineerDad I don’t remember seeing the Rural and Small Town Recognition, so it does seem they did add programs. I wonder if this is why they now will release in March instead of February as in years past?
Any solid release date for the 2021 graduates that made NHRP?
My daughter made a 1420. We’re in Texas.
Has anyone received a letter or email yet?
Still waiting. I thought today was going to be the day.
Jabmon.
Your daughter will be NHRP scholar.! 1420 is a very high score. Ut Dallas is very generous on full tuition on scores of 1400 and above(my oldest got a full-tuition scholarship with a score of 1400 and in the top 10% rank of her graduating class)…
FYI The cut-off score for Texas is usually very low. In 2018 it was 1270. In 2019 It was 1290.
Anything above 1280 is a safe score.
cut off scores will be released this week.
I just called last Friday. Good luck to everybody!
Thank you for the update.
Has anyone received an email? NHRP updated their website (from program opening on the 16th) to the 1st.
I just received the email about 30 minutes ago
.
My son got his email a little while ago, too.
I am a little shocked the cutoff score went up so much. Last year, the WEST was 1290. I was informed it was 1360 this year. I had also heard PSAT scores went down - and qualifying scores were expected to go down.
@crodillas where are you seeing the score cutoff please? I’m unable to locate anything. TY
I emailed the college board. CBRP@scholarshipamerica.org and they let me know.
Historically, it’s by region. So we are in Arizona, which would be considered “West” with California. Not sure if that changed.
Our son was admitted to Northeastern University, College of Engineering and designated as a “Northeastern Hispanic Scholar” based on his NHRP status.
The NU scholarship is for $25,000 first year, $12,500 per full semester thereafter for a total of 8 semesters.
