I just got an application a few weeks back and ignored it. Not only does National Honor Society have varying standards for every high school in the nation, it is unnecessary everywhere. Like I told every kid in my honors or AP class, that has got mad at me, or were shocked/offended to my answer for applying, “What would make me look different than any other college applicant?”. Even if I was president of the club, there will still be 100s of other Presidents. Also, my brother went to the same high school as me, applied and got accepted. He told me what they do: NOTHING. They all lie about their hours and do nothing collectively as a club. It honestly is so not worth it. Also, the application they gave us was a bit ridiculous, not only did half of the school get it, it asked for activities (i.e. sports, clubs, major accomplishments), community activities, work experience, and leadership positions. EVERYONE i know that actually applied lied on their applications (some of them asked teachers for ideas whom also told them to lie)…foreshadowing what they will be doing in the club.
