I just received an email letting me know that I’ve been selected for the National Honors Convocation program over the summer, one of which takes place at Georgetown. I understand that despite their claims of being highly selective, these types of programs often send out invitations to many students. What I’m wondering is if signing up for it would be a benefit for getting into Georgetown, I applied EA, but you never know if you’ll be deferred to RD. Also, the program doesn’t even take place until July, meaning that all I would be able to tell them is that I’m signed up. I’m thinking that such a program won’t help my chances at all, but I’m interested in other ppl’s opinions. Thanks for the input.

Wow I just got one also, but I think most of that kind of stuff is bull*. Like you stated it starts in july, meaning it will have no influence on our application. Any other benefit you gain can be achieved in college. Thus = bull*

I think you already answered the question yourself. It’s not going to help admission chances

Basically Georgetown allows programs like that on its campus in the summer to keep housing more or less occupied and so it loses less money for keeping the buildings air-conditioned. Yes that’s very cynical, but essentially it’s a money-maker and has little, or nothing, to do with Georgetown itself.
