National Merit Scholar + Spring Admit = Presidential Scholarship?

Hi, I was recently accepted into Marshall as a spring admit. I understand that all National Merit Finalists who name USC as their first choice automatically get the half-tuition Presidential Scholarship. But does this apply to spring admits as well?

I have already made USC my first choice school through National Merit and I am only able to attend if I do receive the presidential scholarship.

Any National Merit Finalists out there who were also spring admits and have experience with this situation? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, Spring admits get the NMF Presidential scholarship. Congratulations!!! Hopefully FauxNom will pop in to give you some advice - her S was a Spring admit and a NMF and called to ask about the Scholarship and was very pleased with how things turned out.

You have been given excellent advice. It might be an idea to call Ms. Frye, Director of Undergraduate Admissions at Marshall. Let her know you have been named a NMS. Her phone is: 213 740 8885. If you have received any other new honors, include those as well. Good luck.

Yes, that’s right. We were concerned about this last year, and the financial aid and admissions people I talked to confirmed the eligibility is no different for Spring Admits. Congratulations!

Thank you everyone! This is good news :D
