I have heard Texas gives “good” scholarships for this. How much is “good”? I saw that OOS going to McCombs won’t get much, but would I still get good money from their national merit scholarships?

This info is hidden on the Plan II Web Site, but I believe it applies to all National Merit Scholars who attend UT.

(I think that the value of a Non Resident Tuition Exemption is definitely more than $8000 per year. I think this part of the web site has not been updated it since the non-resident tuition went up about a year ago.)

Would the NRTE be the difference between OOS and in state tuition?

UT is reworking the national merit scholarships for next fall–and it is most likely going to go downward from those numbers, sadly, due to the financial crisis.

The OOS national merit scholarship from last year–which may very well change–meant that you paid $1,000 less than in-state tuition. You received a Non-Resident Tuition Exemption, which meant you paid in-state tuition, and then a $1,000 scholarship off of that.
