National Merit Semifinalist Application

My son just become a 2010 National Merit Semifinalist.

I wanted to know if he needs to put a collage of preference on the application for him to be offered a scholarship. I do not think he did and now I am worried that he made a big mistake.

No he does not need to put a college of preference at this point. He can wait until like March or April next year to do that.

Not a mistake at all! There is no need to declare a college choice this early in the game. Take your time examining the possibilities. My son wondered the same thing last year, but not declaring until late March wasn’t a problem for him.

Thank you, for the info. This makes me feel a lot better.

You can declare as late as Mid April. That’s what my counselor told me. I’m a current semifinalist really hope I become a NMF!
