National Merit

I know many of these questions can be answered on the website, but I thought it would be easier to ask here, because many of you might know the answers right away.

PSAT scores just came out. What score is usually good enough to qualify for the next level? What’s that level called?
I have to take the SAT - what scores are usually needed to win the money?
How much money is it?
Do I have to specify which college I want the money to go to? Is it unrestricted?

Thanks

the national merit semi-finalists are curved by state; thus, each state has its own cutoff. For example, California has been ~ 216, but I hear east coast states are even higher, but southern states (which use the ACT more) have lower scores.

This is old (and someone maybe able to find more current information), but we’ve heard the indexes don’t vary that much from year to year for most states.
