@onceortwice Believe it or not, I’ve had this happen to me here on CC – where something I said got turned into something else and some people were downright mean. I’m an international student too 
People here are generally very helpful, so long as you stay off controversial US topics. And there are amazing people here too, so find them and listen to them.
