Hugs to all; we are all so vulnerable when it comes to our children, even when they are successful adults!
The best thing that ever happened to my husband was getting his second choice on match day. He then met and married me
About 35 more minutes for Match to begin…
Lol…each student puts money in a jar when he/she goes up, and the last person gets the money jar.
I have a horrible story about Couples Match (a friend from med school). And, as you’re all seeing, in the end, it worked fine.
Happy Match Day! I had a great one-- the party at the bar afterwards is just a blur lol.
Yay!! Matched #1 choice!!! I am crying!!!
1
Will be back in Oregon in 2018!!!
Next year 2 blocks from their apartment
All super happy
Congrats all!
Congrats to all as well!
D and FSIL matched together at their #1 as well! Congratulations to everybody!
Friend’s D matched at her #1 as well!
Niece matched #1 – Children’s Hospital, Los Angeles. She did her undergrad at UCLA, so it’s familiar ground and the same time zone as her immediate family. All couldn’t be more proud and excited.
Congrats to everone who Matched today!!
I know the process is super stressful, but you have to believe that what happens is for the best…
@calmom I do understand you angst and I hope your FDIL matched in the desired location, but if not… D1 is married to a lovely man whose career will not allow him to pull up stakes and relocate. (He’s a tenured STEM professor at a major university–the very definition of a non-relocatable job.) D1 and her husband are making it work long-distance. It’s only for 4 years. (2 years down and 2 more to go.)
(BTW, it migh bet my kiddo that @thumper1 is hinting about in #79. She matched at her #4 choice --which turned out to be so much better for her career in the long run than any of her first 3 choices. D1 had wanted to stay in the West but it wasn’t to be. BTW, her #4 choice was a NE Ivy that is not Dartmouth)
Congratulations to all! I’ll be hoping for good news in two years when it’s DD’s turn. Meanwhile I’ll be having wine AND bourbon.
You don’t to wait to on the bourbon. There’ll be plenty of nail-biting moments in your D near term future–like STEP 1 scores and her first clinical rotation. And having done this twice now–I recommend bourbon over wine.
D2 will be in the Match next year. It’s a given she will moving next June because she won’t be doing her residency here. (It’s school’s policy-- only students who have children attending the local schools are allowed to stay for residency. Everybody else goes.)
@mom2collegekids What order did they announce the matches at your son’s school?
Congrats!
@WayOutWestMom nope wasn’t your kid I was thinking about when I said some folks don’t get their top choices. It was a family relative…who now LOVES where he and his family are living…and where they can actually rub two dimes together and NOT have them disappear on a resident salary.
Match at @mom2collegekids was 11 am central time.
Pharmacy Residency Match Day results were released by email at 7:03 a.m. Central. A happy day at my house: #1 choice! Now the scramble for an apartment lease.
Congratulations to everyone. Hugs for everybody.
I’m just so impressed by the CC families!
