Today is National Running Day. Who is going for a run today? There are events all over the country.

I’m planning on doing some trail running tonight.

For those interested in running,I recommend reading “Running for Mortals” or “The Courage to Start”. Good information and entertaining also.

Anyone can be a runner. Give it a try even, if you have done so before. I’ve been running less than two years and will run my second marathon in a few weeks. I ran a little in college but really didn’t get into it. This time it is a different experience.

Did my 6 miles this morning and have a short “shake out” run scheduled for after work. It’s also barefoot running week, which I am not risking doing, but I do have my strange Vibram Five Fingers “shoes” on here at work. Those should get me some odd looks. Well-one of my law partners shows up in ugly Crocs sometimes and our boss has ankle problems and walks around in socks (a man), so they can deal with my Vibrams!

I’ve been in Maine for a week and am back in the office. I left my workout bag with my son though so I need a new bag (something smaller than my tennis bag). I have my stuff in a bigger bag and do plan an afternoon run. Hopefully I have all of the stuff in the bag.

I received an email from RoadRunner Sports with the NRD ad over the weekend.

Is there a national weightlifting day?

D2 (11) and her little friend just ran 50 times around our house, in the rain. Said they’re in training for our town’s junior triathlon to be held in August.

I’ve had plantar fascitis for the past two years. Had no idea how debilitating it could be. No more jogging, no more kickboxing. Elliptical trainer and bike are usually OK, but just not the same, and not much fun. Orthotics haven’t worked. Have an appt to see a different Dr. tomorrow. Hope he has some ideas. It’s incredibly frustrating.

MomofWildChild, your office sounds like a great place to work. Boss walking around in socks - what a hoot!

I’m not doing any running until later tonight when it gets cooler. It is 90 degrees outside, record heat, so running would be suicidal for me. May be I should just stick to doing weights for tonight…
