Does anyone know anything about this organization (NSCS) and the “induction ceremony” at the Mendelssohn Theater at Michigan League? Is this a University sponsored organization? Is it legit? a real organization? or just like the National Honor Roll and other scams? It’s hard to tell from the invitation, plus they ask for dues money, which doesn’t seem right.

I think I threw that away…

They’re a scam in the sense that they charge dues for nothing special. It doesn’t look good on a resume at all and probably doesn’t have such a great reputation in the academic world. They’re not a scam in the sense that they actually are a real organization that tries to select students of academic achievement to be members. A rip-off? Definitely. But illegal? No. I threw mine away as well and everything else just like it (National Dean’s List book, for instance).

Yeah, haha I got one too. Just a scam to steal our money…

Funny thing, I got an email about this last night. And I use mozilla thunderbird as my email client, and even it detected it as a scam, so yes, its meaningless.

I wonder how they got our UMich email addresses… did the university give them out?
