Native Language

Hi I was wondering if I could get an adults opinion on this?
I was wondering what I should put as my native language and what it actually means. I know its the first language however I’ve heard some places that it is the language that you talk and think in.

Heres where it gets kind of confusing for me. I was adopted from Russia when I was 3 so I knew how to speak russian but only a 3 year olds knowledge of the language. Then I was adopted and brought to the US and have spoke English ever since and I think and talk in English. So far I have put Russian as my native language but is that correct?

Thanks!

I believe your native language would be English. At this point, can you converse, read and write in Russian? If not, I wouldn’t use that.

Yeah I cant do anything really in Russian except say a handful of words. And Thanks!

If English has been your daily home langauge since age 3, and is the langauge you first learned to read and write, that would be your native language.
