My DS submitted four CA applications with deadlines on November 1st. He has one teacher recommendation letter and a letter from a professor he worked with during a research program he participated in over the summer. His second teacher recommendation letter has not been completed and he does not want to keep asking the teacher about it.

Today, our GC sent the high school report and LORs via Naviance to the CA. Now when you look at the CA, it has both letters under the “Teacher” box and none under the “Other” box. She said that when she gets the other teacher recommendation, she will send that as well but that the two we have are sufficient.

Two problems: One is that I am expecting the LOR from the teacher has not completed yet will be his best one by far. That teacher really speaks highly of him and I have heard him say things that will make a spectacular letter. I didn’t really want the schools to start evaluating DS’s file without that letter in it. Second thing is that if she tries to send in the second teacher letter to a school that only allows 2 on the CA, I don’t think it will let her send it since there are already two in that box.

I don’t want to email her about it because she already made a comment to me about knowing her job when I asked her about making a previous deadline.

Does anyone know if the CA will allow you to add more letters than what the school wants. If not, will a school hold it against him if they only have one “teacher” and one “other” when they really wanted 2 “teachers”? Will they give him a chance to correct that somehow or will they just deny his application for being incomplete?
