What is the quickest way to get between these two spots? Dd is having trouble getting there in the 10 min between classes and is worried about being marked late (yes, it’s one that checks). I’m sure there must be a shortcut through a parking garage or something? Thanks for any suggestions!

You should inform your professor that you are having trouble making the trek between classes in the allotted time. It can’t hurt to let him/her know in advance.

That said, my guess for a route is that you should be able to head out along University Drive B (traverse under the LRDC) and either catch an elevator from the top of the O’Hara St garage down to Ohara Street and enter Scaife through the DeSoto St library entrance…or, there should be some steps behind Western Psych (there’s a Western Psych parking lot/garage back there and steps should come down between that and the Pete).

Thanks! She’s learning some cut-throughs in one of those garages but needed to just go figure it out - I believe one option is as you described - she just needs to be more comfortable forging through bldgs. without worrying about if she’s “allowed” or not. (and comfortable asking for help from others and profs!)

She’s a student, she can go through just about any building she wants, when she wants. That includes the hospitals, or at least it used to.

For the advanced user, there is an underground tunnel between Presby and Western Psych and that could allow you to navigate, without going outside, from Western Psych to Presby and from there you should be able to get the whole way to Montefiore, or and even exit out of Falk Clinic on 5th Ave via Lothrop Hall. Although, I did almost get locked in Falk Clinic one time when I tried that. But that is essentially there are about four blocks you can traverse without going outside, not that that is the fastest route. There are also underground tunnels connecting Fitzgerald Field House to Trees Hall and the Cathedral of Learning to the Stephen Foster Memorial.

Also, back in the day, I used to study some in the Scaife/Presby cafeteria. It’s open all night (I think) and the grill is open late so it is pretty quite but you can get coffee and a burger/fries, etc. There are a lot more study options now though.
