NC State 2024 Admission Thread

Same question here. Also adding in if anyone has received info on merit scholarships (other than the big Park type scholarships)

@chaphillmom I received a letter about a week ago detailing my financial package, the merit scholarship was included in that.

S heard from both Honors & Scholars today

Many students have dropped out of the NCSU honors college because it is not what it once was. The Honors College dorms are extremely small, NCSU recently added a charge to be in the program and NCSU no longer gives Honors College students advance access to registration - which was an important perk at a such a large university where top students are all trying to make efficient progress toward their degrees. Now it is hard for Honors College students to get the classes they need to graduate. Also, many of the older Engineering students (who already pay a hefty extra fee for the Engineering major) dropped out of the Honors College when NCSU altered things about two years ago and made the requirements higher(!) for the enrolled engineering students to apply. Staff said the NCSU Honors College had “too many Engineering students.”

From the NCSU website: GPA of 3.6 or higher (College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, College of Engineering and College of Science) or 3.5 or higher (College of Design, College of Education, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Natural Resources, College of Textiles, Exploratory Studies, and Poole College of Management)

Just verified info posted by @Mariposa2…NCSU website states Honors College requires 3.8 GPA (unweighted) 4.5 (weighted), as well as a 1350 SAT/30 ACT and/or top 5% of graduating class.

Has anyone got in from the waitlist?

@dsadsf My S20 declined his spot. He was accepted RD (after being defered EA). We are OS so tuition cost was a consideration. But we waited till the last minute to decline because we have family in NC and with the virus, it would be nice to have him near family if he is OS. I imagine starting Monday they will go to the waitllist. Good luck!

@dsadsf Son got a call on friday. Accepted into engineering.

I was waitlisted RD (deferred EA) and submitted a LOCI to my portal this afternoon. Good luck to everyone on the waitlist! Fingers crossed!

Admission called me on Friday about getting off the waitlist and told me that I was accepted into the college of engineering. May 1st was the decision deadline so now they have more of an idea how many spots they have open. I have a sneaking suspicion that when the common data set comes out for this admission cycle there might be higher waitlist acceptance numbers than last year just because of everything that’s going on this year.

Here is the link to the official page for their waistcoat info. Considering I’m on college confidential I’m pretty sure most of you wondering about the waitlist have already read it

Got a call this morning at 9am from NCSU and I got accepted into CHASS!!
