<p>FALLBROOK ---- A student who will be the third child in his family to attend Harvard University and another who is the youngest in a family of nine boys were among those honored at the recent monthly community Fallbrook student of the month breakfast…</p>
<p>Teacher Connie Fellios spoke about Asher Bartch, whose father, Eric, is preparing to head out on a tour of duty in Iraq, as Asher prepares to join his brother and sister as a student at Harvard University. He is a class co-valedictorian carrying a grade point average of 4.55.</p>
<p>She spoke about his enthusiasm for life.</p>
<p>“Out of many adjectives, one of the ones I would use to describe Asher is joie de vivre, which is joy of life,” she said. “I don’t think I have ever seen him without a smile. He also is gifted, conscientious and highly motivated.”</p>
<p>Asher was president of his freshman and junior classes and vice president of his sophomore and senior classes.</p>
<p>He has been a member of the Civil Air Patrol, the school lacrosse team and is a peer tutor.</p>
<p>Teacher Pam Munro added, “He has something I call a dignity of character, something unusual to find in a man so young.”</p>
<p>Asher also spoke about wanting to live up to his parents’ expectations, especially his father’s.</p>
<p>“He is one of the most respected people I know,” he said. “He is super-smart and has always taught us to have an open mind…”</p>
