Nclb

wow you could have knocked me over with a feather

I just wanted to tell someone- after all my dissatisfaction with the school district- and the state, re public education, I just got the letter today that said that my daughter- who has a disability that interferes with processing and memory, passed the 10th grade math WASL.( nclb test required for graduation)
This is a big deal.
In 4th/8th & 10th grade, she received a 1 in math on the WASL
( There are 4 rankings- 1- not even close to passing - 2 closer but still not passing- 3 passing- & 4 passing at highest level- if she had gotten 12 more points she would have gotten a 4–
she is now a junior)

However she retook it this spring after taking a month of a required WASL class ( at the same time she had another grade level math class), and she almost received a 4- the highest passing grade in math.

Not that this takes away from my frustration with using a test that was supposed to evaluate curriculum/teaching, that instead is punitive to students.

But so cool!
:D

Good for her!! And good for you too, for your whole family! You should go out and celebrate!
It’s too bad that these arbitrary things- tests (!) can cause so much angst. I’ve literally tossed and turned at night thinking about a stupid standardized test. How sad is that?
But TODAY is a HAPPY occasion for you, THANK GOODNESS.
Congratulations!

Congrats. ;)
