I got accepted onto the Waitlist, and I was wondering how exactly the process goes. How high are my chances to be accepted as a student? Also, should I tell the Boards of Admissions about any rewards I get?
Hey! I got accepted onto Waitlist too. At the information session they had on welcome day, they said they would start calling people May 1st to accept them into residential. Apparently last year only 6 or 7 people were left on Waitlist meaning that 40 girls and 40 guys were accepted. They said that they are expecting to take the same number of people again this year, and seeing as there are only 87 people on the class of 2017’s Waitlist, chances are they’ll take accept almost everyone. Hope this helped
Yep, they have started moving people from the waitlist into finalists. I never got a call though, only an email.
@possiblesmather Thanks! It’s nice to hear that the odds are good!
@iLackCreativity That’s good to hear! What email did they send it to, your NCSSM email or the one you submitted with your applciation?
@iLackCreativity congrats on getting in! You must have been euphoric! Do you know how many people they have contacted so far?
@faculae hopefully we get called
@faculae I received the email through my own email which I submitted through my app with. My ncssm email has yet to be used at all
@possiblesmather Thanks! I’m not aware how many people are called yet, but my guess is they probably filled the spaces that were created when people initially declined the residential offer when it was first given, since I know like 3 people in my district who instantly declined. I don’t know anyone else who has gotten in from the waitlist yet, since most of friends either made residential or didn’t make waitlist.
Anyways, good luck to both of you, and as possiblesmather said, the chances of getting in are good.
@iLackCreativity thanks for the feedback! If you don’t mind me asking, what district are you from? I’m from district 9 so it’s always a lot harder to get in from here since there are lot of people applying from here. :-<
@possiblesmather I’m from district 9 as well…Do I know you?
I go to Providence High school btw.
Really? Small place hey! I go to Independence High School! @iLackCreativity
Oh, I don’t think I know anyone who goes to Independence. Well, hope to see you at NCSSM, good luck!
Did anyone on waitlist got confirmed. I have been waiting to hear from NCSSM.
This thread kind of died down but I was just wondering if they are still taking people off the waitlist, I’ve been waiting for months for a call and it just seems like it’s never gonna come.
I have a son also on the waitlist. I talked to admissions last week and they told me that its been a really slow year (slowest in past 3-4 years) in terms of # of students coming off the waitlist. As of last week only ~20 students had come off the waitlist, leaving over 60 still on. This is well behind last year’s numbers at this same point in time. They expect more to come off over the next 4 weeks but of course they could not say how many. So unfortunately for those of us still on the waitlist, the chances of getting in at this point are not nearly as good as we initially were led to believe after the Welcome Day II presentation back in April. What a tough process for the students and families, glad it will be over soon and the students can move forward with their lives knowing where they will be going to school for the next 2 years. To those who eventually get into NCSSM, congratulations and I hope the experience there will be worth the stress of waiting all spring and summer.
@wakeforestdad wow! That’s really discouraging considering the fact that at the Welcome Day II presentation we were lead to believe things would move smoothly because of what happened with the previous years’ waitlist. Hopefully things start to speed up soon but at this rate it seems like they may be leaving a lot of people on the waitlist this year compared to other years from what you described. Thanks for the info though and I hope your son gets that call that we’re all eagerly waiting for.
Did somebody get finally how many students got offer from waitlist. I am guessing no more than 25 students got an offer.
