NCSU Fall 2017 Transfer Chances

@gbrl10, I’m trying to transfer to State for Fall 2018. I want to transfer into the college of engineering. I will end my first semester with a 4.0 GPA. I am currently attending Appalachian State University. By the end of the semester, I will have 30 credit hours.
Here’s my course list:
-Fall-
Comp Sci I
Calc I
Chem I
Psychological Foundations
-Spring-
Calc II
Physics I
Freshman Seminar
English I

My high school GPA: 3.2 UW 4.1W
My SAT: 1290
I am also active in a comp sci related club on campus. I believe that the seminar coupled with English II fulfill the English requirement. Do you guys think I have a chance? Thank you!

@redpack23 Oh shoot, I didn’t know someone mentioned me here. Sorry for the delayed response.

Just to make sure, are those two classes you mentioned ENG 1000 and ENG 1510? If so, I think you are in perfect standing for acceptance. I don’t know if you’ve seen my other thread, but I mentioned multiple times that admission officers for transfer students literally just look at your transcript and GPA to decide if you get in. Since you have 30 transferable credit hours, they won’t look at your high school GPA or SAT, so don’t worry about that. They also don’t really care about your current clubs either, sorry to say. But they will care to see that computer science grade (assuming you’re going into computer science). They didn’t even see my first computer science grade when they accepted me (I took it in the spring), so it’s probably good that they get to see that on your transcript.

Here’s what I imagine what will happen when they get your transcript:
-They’ll see you have your 30 credits hours
-They’ll make sure you have all the required courses (and you do). If you don’t they’ll immediately reject you.
-Since you have those courses, they’ll look at your GPA and see that it’s a 4.0 and probably accept you!

As I have mentioned in my thread, the admission officer told me that if you have a 3.65+ GPA or higher, you’re practically guaranteed acceptance. So yeah, I’d say you have a chance.

Thanks for the reply!

@redpack23 hey, I just wanted to know if you got accepted or not to nc state? And also when you said you were applying for fall does that mean you would have 30 credit hours after May of 2018 because you started at Appalachian state on August of 2017 right? I’m just trying to see what my chances are based on yours as it is close to what mine is as I will be applying next year.
