<p>Just thought you guys might enjoy this… we don’t rank that high in all rankings but it’s pretty encouraging! My roomate is a business major and he showed me it… he said there have been some recent improvements.</p>
<p>Sadly, Notre Dame is ranked 15th in the median starting salary. :(</p>

<p>Remember that most Notre Dame grads will probably get their first job in the Midwest. Since the Midwest has a lower cost of living and therefore, a lower average income, that can explain at least part of the discrepancy.</p>
<p>I agree with Shellzie, ND’s starting salary is probably lower because of being in the midwest but the same salary goes a lot farther here than it does in New York. It probably all equals out the way it should in the end… plus, starting salary is something to consider but shouldn’t later salaries be a better indicator? Just a thought.</p>
<p>Also, as to how it ranked so high, you can look at the other categories as well as I can (I think). Education quality, resources, JOB PLACEMENT, all of those are A+'s</p>

There are no statistics for later salaries. But starting salaries are an indicator for what you will earn later in life.</p>
<p>I’m currently a HS senior. My top two options are Notre Dame and Cornell.</p>
<p>I’m 70% Notre Dame, 25% Cornell, 4% UMASS(for free school), and 1% other schools right now. 2 more days to decide! Anyways, what do you have against me? Are you seeking me out just because I said that HS grades and SAT scores matter in freshman transfers?</p>

If this is not the case I apologize but I challenged you in this thread because it is very good news for ND and shows very well and it looked like you were trying to find something negative about it to point out, so I pointed out that the overall report was very positive and asked about your school because I thought you were ■■■■■■■■. I apologize if this is not the case.</p>
<p>I did not follow you to this thread, but if you look at this message board, I am just all over it (probably too much honestly, I have debated cutting down for quite some time now). I didn’t follow you to make your life miserable, don’t worry.</p>
<p>As for the transfers, people have told me that I am very fair and balanced but a bit touchy when it comes to my tranfers (notice my transfers, lol) and that probably is true honestly. After I was accepted and transferred to Notre Dame in 2004 I made it my mission to learn as much as I could about the process (though I knew a lot because I research this stuff like crazy) and help other kids transfer into Notre Dame. If there is a book on transfer admissions, I have probably read it. I have them with me in the dorm room. </p>
<p>A little background on me; Notre Dame was my dream school and very few kids have ever wanted anything as badly as I wanted to come to Notre Dame. I was rejected as a senior in high school and transferred in a year later. This has become very important to me because I look around and I see a lot of other kids who love Notre Dame but just need to know how to get in, especially as a transfer as it is different than anywhere else. </p>
<p>Since ND is different with transferring, I pulled all of my information together earlier this year and spent a week in making the transfer website so it answers all the questions as well as I could. I have run it by no less than 5 Notre Dame transfers (with a few others who just happened upon it and emailed me) and all reported it to be accurate and a good resource, so I went live with it.</p>
<p>I reacted strongly to your response because it seemed like you were arguing Notre Dame transfer admissions, which again are different than anywhere else, with information from Cornell which made no sense to me. They are completely different, really (please take it from a transfer). </p>
<p>I am very very passionate about transfers to Notre Dame and I work very hard to get them the information that they need and overall the kids who talk with me are very successful. I take great pride in the transfers and, again, I probably care too much. I apologize if I came across too strong but I really believe in the information I give because it works time and time again! I just really want to give them the information and have them do the things that will help them and not bother with the things that won’t and that is why I strongly disagreed with you. Would taking the SAT again hurt, probably not, but the help would be insignificant given how ND runs things and given that all the transfers have at least a year of college behind them.</p>
<p>I apologize if you felt like my attacks were personal, I didn’t mean them to be but they may have gone a bit overboard as I am passionate at times and I thought you were a ■■■■■. I apologize for that and I will send you a PM so that hopefully we can figure it all out.</p>

<p>I may have seemed like that I was “■■■■■■■■” around because I do not automatically assume that the school I’m going to is the best one. I will probably double major in business and biology/pre-med next year wherever I go, and seeing Mendoza as #3 was certainly a nice surprise. But I still think that MIT Sloan should have been ranked higher. From the statistics listed, it seems superior in every way.</p>
<p>I don’t recommend ND for everyone, but I will place a friendly bet that if you come to ND you will love it and be (almost) as crazy as I am about it by the time you graduate. This place does that to most people, lol. I hope you come and experience it for yourself so you see where I am coming from. My roommate last year, for example, came to ND because he was rejected from Princeton and it was a mere backup. Now he is one of the biggest ND fans I know and would have had it no other way. It is an amazing place, you will see. Transferring to ND, though a very costly decision (I left scholarships behind) was the best decision I have ever made.</p>
<p>I visited a couple weeks ago and LOVED it, and it was a major reason why I’m choosing it over Cornell.</p>

<p>If you don’t understand why I am here then you don’t understand what Notre Dame is. I come here in my free time and spend a lot of time to help kids like you get into Notre Dame and make the best decision for them. I don’t have to and a lot of other boards don’t have students that do this (or are as obsessed as Nemo and a few others on here). </p>
<p>I do it because a bit part of being a Domer is helping other Domers and as a student there is only so much of that I can do. Because of that, I come and help future Domers. </p>
<p>I am not sure if you were trying to insult me DJ, I truly hope not, but that is why I am here. I hope some day you can understand it if you don’t already.</p>

<p>DJZahren, your remark to Irish (a future fellow Domer) was in bad taste and just plain mean. Count me as a person who admires the job Irish does helping students learn about a process that is very stressful and a lot of hard work. I have time and again been impressed with this young mans mentoring, advice, and passion for helping students interested in attending ND. </p>
<p>As to this being a forum for high school students, you notice we are on the internet which is wide open to anyone with a pulse, and this site is available to all who have any interest in college related issues.</p>
<p>I think the fact that Irish has dealt with this with class speaks volumes.</p>
<p>Interesting note: The original poster said that ND doesn’t do that well in “all” the rankings. I originally just treated these rankings with a grain of salt. But today I got an email from Indiana U linking me to the same rankings. IU typically ranks ahead of ND business, but they apparently consider these rankings valid.</p>

<p>Nice find Irish_hopeful. Still, I would take all of these rankings with a huge chunk of salt just because I think the most important thing is going where you fit. You will do best and learn the most if you go the the school that fits you 99 times out of 100, regardless of where they rank. That being said, I do like the validation that ND’s business program is solid.</p>
