No recipe but I miss Euchre! We played every day in college and every weekend when we lived in Ohio. Not many (good) Euchre players here in Minnesota! ;)

This is Xtreme Lazy Cooking (a sport at which I excel), but it takes no time at all and tastes better than what’s in the can:

2 28 ounce cans of vegetarian baked beans
1 tablespoon dry mustard
3/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons dried minced onions
Cook 3 hours on low in crock pot, then crumble six strips of crisp cooked bacon on top before serving

B&M baked beans are from Portland, ME. They have the cutest little factory. Their Kansas City BBQ beans are just about the only ones I do not doctor before serving.

I love baked beans, but I am still looking for a substitute for Campbell’s, since I am trying to avoid the corn syrup. So, use 2 28 oz cans of beans. Sauté an onion ( we use a large sweet one) in olive oil till translucent, then pour in a tablespoon of (I use balsamic) vinegar, add a teaspoon of butter, a splash or three of hot sauce, and simmer till thickened. If I have it, i add the degreased drippings from frying bacon or sausage. That is, I add water to the frying pan after I have fried some sausage or bacon. Stir to remove browned bits, then chill this in the fridge and pick off the hard fat. This meat juice and the vinegar and butter are the secret ingredients. I don’t add catsup, but you could, and I don’t care for sweet beans, but would use molasses or maple syrup if I wanted sweet beans. You can have these ready after a couple of hours stovetop, or after 3 hours baked, or in the crockpot.

What happened to the Bush’s Mexican Kitchen beans? I liked them and now they are gone. Sob.

I made your recipe for dinner tonight! H loved them! It is a little different then a true baked bean recipe, and it tasted yummy. I followed your recipe exactly but just added a second onion. It helped that I had almost all the ingredients already and just had to buy the apples & molasses. I would highly recommend it and it was easy peasy to make. Also good for a side dish for any meal or to serve to vegetarians too. I originally thought I could add crumbled crispy bacon or tomatoes, but after tasting it, I’ve decided not to add anything else. I served it with grilled cheese, bacon and tomato sandwiches, so the bacon and tomato are added to the sandwich instead of the bean mixture! It was gooooood! Thanks for sharing! :)

Beans, a ton of onion, ketchup, brown sugar, worcestershire sauce, bacon. Mine come out different every time because I dont really measure. But the worcestershire sauce makes them really good.

I used to make my baked beans with Campbells canned pork and beans, but I think they added more sauce to the can, because the last couple times I made the recipe they turned out really runny. I guess I need to drain some of the sauce first. I haven’t made baked beans since I moved to the UK, but I guess I’ll have to use Heinz beans here. Hope they’re not as runny. My recipe is essentially the same as gouf78 - don’t measure, just taste a lot.

OP here! First of all, made the Pioneer Woman recipe- SUCCESS! People were salivating as they entered the house it smelled so good! They were nice and thick (not runny) and sweet with a little spice. bacon gets crispy on top. Definite keeper! (I was licking the spoon upon clean up!)

Secondly, euchre tournament wildly successful! 16 very happy card playing family members, tons of laughs and good spirit for hours!
