Need A List Of Colleges In Pennsylvania That *GUARANTEE* A Full Ride

Hello CC,

I’m Ahmed, an American citizen living in Bangladesh. I’m willing to apply for the fall semester of 2013 for my undergrad programs.

Due to my financial condition, I’m having to look up need-blind schools and other very generous schools. Also, I’ve started compiling a list of schools where a full-ride is GUARANTEED.

I’m not a very bright applicant. I haven’t taken my SATs yet, but I know my scores won’t be impressive. Due to a lot of hindrances, there’s been a lot of interruption in my studies.

I’m looking for schools in Pennsylvania where I might be able to get a full ride with a score around 1800 on the SAT. (I’m not worried about my GPA though.) Are there any possibilities?

I really need your help, CC. Will anyone be kind enough to give me a list of Pennsylvanian colleges where a full ride is GUARANTEED?

Any input will be highly appreciated.

Thank you

I’m not aware of any colleges here in PA that will guarantee you a full ride, but you may be able to go to tier 4/5 schools elsewhere that can give you a full ride.

Otherwise, refer to this chart for the penn state schools. If you have a 3.9+ with an 1800, you may be able to get some sort of scholarship at a penn state campus (other than university park)

Unfortunately, a full ride is never guaranteed to an 1800 SAT applicant. However, if you come from a low income family, you may qualify for FA. As long as you’re an American citizen, your eligible for FA at most universities.

I did get a couple schools (they’re mostly in Missouri, Texas, Minnesota, Alabama, Louisiana, Kentucky etc. places) on CC and some other websites. But I really wish I could get into some school in Pennsylvania.

I know I’m asking for a lot, but is there any way I can get a school in Connecticut, New York, Virginia or Michigan with my stats and get a full ride?

Thanks again

I think Gettysburg College gives good financial aid

Use the school net price calculators

Thanks, but I don’t think my SAT scores are going to be enough.

Ahmed: frankly, you’re asking for a LOT. “I’m a mediocre student and I want a college that will educate me and grant me four years of college for free”

If this scenario existed so easily, half of America would be on the doorstep don’t you think?

Sigh, I know. I still don’t know what my SAT scores will turn out to be like though. It’s not like I didn’t find schools that guarantee full rides, I did. But I just didn’t get any in the aforementioned states except in Texas.

Any other suggestions?

Bumpified…

I’m in PA. I see hundreds of students go to college each year. While an 1800 is good, I can’t think of any schools that would guarantee a free ride with that score.

However, kids have gotten decent aid from York College of PA, Hood (in MD), LaSalle, Newmann, and probably a few others I’m not thinking about this early in the morning. You could try those, but a free ride is most definitely not guaranteed.

Thank you. I’m hoping I can cover all my expenses by working and taking some loans combining with the aid I might get.

ahmed, I second checking out York college. You probably would qualify for decent student aid there and I know we had plenty of international students when I went there.

No school will guarantee you a full ride…

Run a search for the threads started by momfromtexas. She found full rides for both of her sons. The specific scholarships mentioned in those threads might not exist any more, but her research strategies are still very good.

If you need a full ride, you can’t be picky about the location. You have to go wherever the best money is. If you prefer PA because you have family or friends there, maybe you can plan now to look for summer and winter vacation jobs near them.
