Need a match school for 31 ACT score - East Coast

I’ve narrowed down my college list to 9 schools, yet I want another match school. At the moment, my safeties are UMD College Park, American University, and University of Miami-Oxford. My matches are Washington & Lee.

I have an ACT score of 31, superscore is 32. My W GPA is 4.6.
I’m interested in majoring in Political Science, and either minoring in History or English.

I’m looking for a school on the East Coast or Mid-Atlantic region w/ 3k-8k Undergrads. I really like liberal arts schools, but it seems like they’re pretty selective and are set in rural areas. I’d rather go to a school on the outskirts of a city or in a great college town.

Any suggestions?

Congratulations on taking care of your academics and strong ACT scores. Not knowing your EC’s, I would still say that if you put together strong application essays, you will have many options and solid chances at the following:

Georgetown (school size is on the big end of your preference though)
Swarthmore
Williams
Amherst

Just throwing this school despite not being in the East Coast - Claremont McKenna in Cali.

If you like W & L you may like the University of Richmond, in suburbs about 4 miles from downtown. Richmond is a really great city, lots to do. Do you need aid or merit scholarships, how much will your parents be able to pay each year?

@booboojr Thank you for replying. However, I’m applying to 3 out of those 4 and consider them all to be reach schools, considering their selectivity.

E.C.'s are a bit weak. They include Figure Skating (10 years+), Ballet (4 years), Assistant Captain of Figure Skating Team (2 years), Figure Skating Club Member (4 years), Model UN Member (1 year), Student Tutor (1 year), NUSH Coordinator (1 year), and Media Operator at my church (4 years). I also interned at a congressional district office this summer.

@mamag2855 U of Richmond sounds like a good idea. I’ll look into it, thanks for the suggestion. I basically qualify for no aid because my parents make about 150-200k/yr. Merit scholarships are always a plus but my parents are pretty financially comfortable.

You might find a school that appeals to you within this Newsweek online article: “The 25 Most Desirable Suburban Schools.”

Swartmore, Amherst, Williams, Washington & Lee are not match schools for anyone.

Matches would be Lafayette, Holy Cross, Dickinson, Franklin & Marshall Connecticut College and Gettsyburg.

Lehigh (probably more of a high-match)? Wake Forest (ditto)? Fordham? Elon? Providence College? Villanova?

The University of Rochester matches you academically, falls in the middle of your size range, is strong in political science, history and English, and is literally on the outskirts of its home city.

Did your high school guidance counselor tell you that you are a shoo-in at UM-CP? There occasionally are nasty surprises there. Your safety should be a place where you know for dead certain you are guaranteed admission based on your stats, not just a place no one from your high school with your stats has been rejected from yet.
