Need advice: I'm a senior applying early action. I was supposed to take the ACT this past saturday

but I get an email at 4pm on Friday saying “unforeseen circumstances…etc”. My testing center was the only one in the state to cancel, not sure what the prob was. Anyway, they didn’t contact me to reschedule. My issue is this: I took the SAT twice, once in June (with the infamous negative curve: I only got 4 wrong in math and got a 700 in math, total score 1430. Then I took it again in August, same score, controversy over that SAT as well. I decided to try the ACT, and not it was cancelled. Should this be mentioned in my application, maybe by my GC or just let it go

Mention what? There was no controversy over the August SAT. The schools dont want to hear any of this.

I don’t think complaining about a harsh curve on the SAT (not unique to you) or not being able to take the Nov. ACT will help your case. If you think you can do significantly better on the ACT I would forego EA, take the ACT later on, and apply RD. You want to present the strongest application you possibly can to Yale.

The August test was leaked, there is a class action lawsuit over it.

In Asia. Thousands took it and did fine. Your score would not be impacted by those who had advance notice You took the test a second time and didnt do as well as you would have liked. The leak has no impact on your score.

As others have said, colleges don’t want to hear excuses about a harsh SAT curve, or why you didn’t do as well as expected – so don’t mention it, don’t complain about it and don’t have your GC mention it!

The test was available in the US too. All the cram schools had it.

The adcoms are perfectly aware of all the controversies. You don’t need to point it out to them. Let it go.

I’m sorry your ACT sitting was cancelled but that’s why so many people recommend testing earlier junior year so you have time to re-take if you need it.

I’m with @happy1, if you think you can do significantly better on the ACT, postpone your application to RD.
