<p>Hey guys. I need some advice concerning dorms and dining halls. I will be swimming at UC next year, so obviously a dorm near the Ratner would be ideal (walking across campus @ 4:30 AM is a little bit cold!). However, I am a person who really values my privacy and would prefer a single room. </p>

<p>Well you are going to have to weigh how important these things are to you. Max Palevsky and Pierce are the 2 closest to Ratner, however, you won’t get a single in one of these as a freshman.</p>
<p>Maclean is one block from Ratner and has nothing but singles. The students there eat at Pierce, which is across the street from Ratner.</p>
<p>Is maclean very common for freshmen?</p>
<p>50% of Maclean’s residents are freshmen. It’s not a big dorm, though; IIRC, it only houses about 90 people.</p>
