Need answers asap! No longer in tap

All was going well, I have a 4.0 Gpa and was in TAP.
Due to some unfortunate circumstances, i may need to drop my calculus 2 class
I am a psych major and i dont need calc 2, the only reason i was taking it was for units and to complete my TAP requirements.
Now that i may have to drop it, I will have a “W” and will no longer TAP certified.
But i DO have a 4.0, and I have completed all my psych lower divs (according to assist.org) and will be making up the lost units by taking an 8 week health course and a 1 unit PE class to make the 60 unit mark. Also, i completed IGETC, for what its worth.

I am worried that this may severely damage my chances of getting into UCLA.

How much does not being in TAP and having a “W” lower my chances at UCLA as a psych major?

I asked some counselor at my CC, and she basically told me not to worry about the “W” because it’s no big deal, and that not being in TAP is okay because i have a 4.0, but i have a strange feeling not to trust this lady.

If my chances are not really hurt, I will for sure drop it, but if i might have to stay another year at CC because i will not get aaccepted, i will have to tough it out through these extremely hard times that i am having (family issues) and have an intensly hard time with the calc class.

Can anyone ACCURATELY answer my question?

thank you.

4.0 essentially guarantees admission as long as you have some 5/10 extra curriculars on the side. Tap is only necessary for those that are borderline for their major (GPA).

Although your suspicion is warranted! CC counselors are bottom of the barrel undoubtedly!

do u still have 18 honors units?

i have 1 extra curricular (i started a club at my CC and am president/founder)

I have like 20 honors units without the calc 2 class, but i need 24 to be certified.

^ Rude! Hah.

But really, you shouldn’t worry.

honestly, i need like a numerical answer or something
i’m a weird friggin guy and i need to sleep tonight

lets say my chance of acceptance WITHOUT the “w” and WITH being in TAP for UCLA was, say 95%

Now, WITH a “w” and NOT being in TAP anymore, what are my chances? 80%? 90%? 70%!??!

be as honest and accurate as possible, if i drop this class and don’t get accepted becasue of it, I will never be able to live with myself

u already applied so its not gonna matter. u’ll get accepted likely, but the question u should be asking is “will i be rescinded?” probably not. but let UCLA know ASAP

there is no way for any one on here to know what percent chance you have with and without TAP. even if there was a UCLA rep on here or something, they wouldnt be able to tell you for sure. im sure that each applicant is evaluated on a case by case situation, with everything from GPA to E.C.'s and grade trends taken into consideration.

from the sound of it, you should be fine with a 4.0 and a W. so 85% (so you can go to sleep).

with TAP, a 4.0, and no W i would imagine it would be something like 95%+.

i found it ironic how i’m the only one here trying to help and not being rude. probably b/c this is my 800th post
