Need clarification on this

I. Prerequisites

(Grade of C or better in 10 or 20 required to declare the major, however both courses are required to complete the major.)
Rhetoric 10
Rhetoric 20
II. Major Requirements

(Overall grade point average of C required to graduate, all courses must be taken for a grade)
Required of all majors:

Rhetoric 103A
Rhetoric 103B

Thats partial of the requirements for rhetoric major. I am just wondering, by overall GPA of C, do they mean I can get a D- in Rhetoric 103A &B and still graduate as long as my overall major GPA is over a C? BTW is D considered passing? Or do I need to maintain a C- or a C for 103a and 103b?

Thanks

uh, it does sound like you can get a D in Rhetoric 103a and 103b as long as you maintain over a 2.0 average for your major classes. You should email the undergrad advisor to make sure. Are you worried about Rhet 103a right now?

ya…i bombed the midterm really hard. misread questions and failed to address prompts…a total disaster. both my major and uc gpa are decent and i can take a d if i must…as long as they allow me to do so. i will try to get a hold of my advisor but talking about this seems rather embarrassing…i mean, how do u fail a cake major like rhetoric…

lol who thought rhetoric was a cake major. I thought rhetoric and comp lit were generally considered the harder humanities. everyone outside the majors avoids them like the plague

oh what?! LOL, what did i get myself into…lol at least i am almost done. 3 classes this sem and 3 more in spring…then graduation! well if i pass rhetoric 103a that is.

not sure if i can find a job with a degree in…rhetoric…but we will see…lol.

are u a senior as well batman?

uhm yeah, would not consider Rhetoric a cake major. Considering my overall GPA is significantly higher than my Rhetoric major GPA so far…hah.

phew, I was about to take Rhetoric 103a this semester but thought it was going to be hella boring. How is it? Which GSI do you have? (if you don’t mind answering)

my god its so boring…we are now reading st augustine…KILLLL ME. not that i have done the reading…lol.

i got rion roberts. super nice guy but super tough grader. i don’t know tho…imo 103a and b are perhaps the toughest rhetoric courses offered here…survived b during the summer…hopefully i can survive a as well.

from personal experience it seems b or b+ are pretty easy to attain in most rhetoric classes but a or a- are rarely given…often only to the truly exceptional students…

Yeah, I’ve heard 103a and 103b are the toughest/hit or miss classes. I had Rion over the summer for Rhet 10 and phew, I’m so glad I didn’t get him again. He is a tough grader and talked so much during our “discussion” section.

Really? I think all the required classes have relatively tough grading (10, 20, 103 series?), but my upper div concentration profs are much nicer in grading. Yay. It also helps that I’m a lot more interested lol.

i actually thought 10 and 20 were super easy…they even bump your grade up a notch for no reason…lol…so i ended up getting really good grades in both.

i am like really stressed over 103a this sem. i just heard back from my advisor that i need to get at least a c in 103a for graduation. that blows :(

out of all of the prof iv had so far, i find guterriez (LOL i am sure i butchered his name) and mascuch (sp?) to be the easiest.
