need college names to apply

Even though he is the val his SAT scores do not match up to their reported scores. There are differences between high schools and the types of students who attend them. I would not consider them safeties even though I think he has a shot.

I don’t understand this way of looking at college admissions. I don’t know where you live but I suggest you make some college visits ASAP to find out what kind of schools you’d like. If you’re just going by “top in the field,” you’re setting yourself up for disappointment. If you don’t like the place you live, you’re not going to have a good college experience.

You can find top schools with all sorts of different feels. Berkeley has the big school feel and is still a top engineering school, whereas CalTech is almost the definition of “small school.” Then you have your midsize Stanford. And size isn’t the only type of “feel.” I think you need to find what kind of school you like first. Not only will it make your college experience better, it’ll also make the application process easier since you won’t need to fill out so many apps.

Sorry kyledavid80, Berkeley, Berkeley, Berkeley. In fact, I just copy pasted, so didn’t remember to correct. the thing is that I was a CA resident, but came to Asia, beacuse my father had to take medical retirement, and the living costs here are very low, plus my parents ahve relatives here.
so i can go to any state, but for location i’ll prefer CA, or the north-east…
size doesn’t matter… as long as i do good.
i pick things up easily because here in asia, i’m doing american high school, but typically am studying on my own.
i even studied for my APs on my own and scored 5s. if i was in usa. i could’ve done better, more resources more options.
plus over here there aren’t even any ec’s or clubs or associations etc. i could join. no competitions etc. here either.

i don’t know how to cover up for that…

any advice for that too?
