I’m considering a major in either Neuroscience or Cinematography. However, I can’t come to terms and decide which major is most appropriate for me. I am the most passionate for cinematography and filmmaking, and have taken drama, have been head of a lights crew in a play, and have taken photography and art. I know that I would never lose interest if I ever went into a career like Cinematography, yet the competition of it and the statistics of cinematographers’ salary is daunting. However, it’s been a long-time dream of mine to make movies of my very own. As for Neuroscience, I have an interest in it, but that interest is overwhelmed by an apprehension because of how little I know of it now, a fear of not finding the right neuroscience program to help furnish an understanding of the major, and a fear of dedicating myself to the wrong major, with biology and chemistry not being the most interesting of subjects to me. Writing and art were always my favorite subjects, so I thought naturally that filmmaking would be the best choice, since I always dreamed of it. But the competition and low salary stop me from deciding on it. I also have an interest in screenwriting, since it’s in higher demand than cinematographers.

I’m looking for a college that offers good programs on both of these majors (neuroscience and cinematography), as well as International Business for my girlfriend. Here are some colleges I looked at today:

University of Central Florida
This college offered a great film program and a film major, but lacked both International Business and Neuroscience as majors(Cognitive science as a minor didn’t cut it)

Florida State University
Has one of the highest reputed film programs and a film major. However, they offer International Affairs as a major but not International Business despite how they offer a great program for International Business. And it appears they have a good neuroscience program too, but neuroscience doesn’t appear as a major. If I’m wrong on this, please tell me I’m wrong! I really want to go here!

University of Virginia
Has a very detailed neuroscience program, which looks promising, but no film or international business to be found.

If anyone can help me come to a decision on a college, or better yet, a suggestion of a major to make choosing a college easier, both would be very appreciated!

Also, if anyone knows, can people who start a career in cinematography make a smooth transition into a new country? Does anyone have experience of this?
