<pre><code>It is interesting how the way one thinks can quickly be changed by their environment. Born in the city of San Francisco, my life revolves around a lot of change because of technology. In today’s society, technology is growing fast and has a way of embedding itself into our everyday lives. Technology has had a huge impact on the way I learn, work, and now giving me different perspectives on doing things. Surrounded by computers and the Internet, the changes I have experienced have provided me a new outlook on how technology has improved the way I live.
I would not have thought that there would be a replacement for writing by hand. I remember when I had to do all my assignments by hand when I was in elementary school. From kindergarten to fourth grade, I thought there was no end to the tedious writing. I did not understand how scribes in the old days write for a living. Along came fifth grade, when I got my first computer. It was not anything special, just an old hand-me-down from my cousin who no longer used it. However, the more I used it, I learned that the machine could do more than play games like pinball. Groaning about doing my next homework in pencil was replaced with typing. Typing didn’t give me wrist pain like writing did and it gave me a new outlook on how to do things faster. To my pleasure, following the rest of my educational career, teachers no longer asked us to “turn in our paper in pen”.
After discovering such an amazing invention, I wanted to learn more about computers, such as what else can I do other than typing and playing simple games? The possibilities were endless for something that was so unknown. I spent many days cooped up in the house exploring everything about my computer.
