D has one XC race left in her HS career, I will be a blubbering mess that day for sure. I was wondering if anyone out there had some unique ideas for gifts/mementos that could be presented to the seniors on the team (both guys and girls). Flowers are out since the weather will undoubtedly be cold! Best if it were low cost, homemade, something that they can take out 20 years from now and remember how much FUN they had together as a group! All ideas appreciated - THANKS!

Framed photos are always popular. Do you have a team shot or some candids? D made photo keychains (not digital, just plastic “stick a picture in” from A.C. Moore) for graduating seniors on her team last year.

check out smilebox dot com. You can make nice little books/scrapbooks to be printed out if you have some digital prints. A mom made these for the senior captains…D2 loved hers! Look under kids activities and then sports. It is free so printing is your only cost.

Great idea, NorthMN! The photos are treasured.

Hava friend/neighbor/nonparent of a team member play the role of photographer. Buy a bunch of balloons, give one to each runner, take photos of them on THE day (we called it Senior Day) as well as some candid shots, make copies of the good photos and distrubute to the seniors later–maybe a post-season get together??..

Some parents will take photos, but many will have forgotten their cameras and not be in ‘shape’ to take good pics. Can’t have enough photos of these milestones! The little knick-knacks get lost, etc. but pictures stand the test of time!

Enjoy the moment–They grow up way too fast!!

apple has a really cool make a book feature on their iPhoto software (I am sure many others do as well). I have seen teams gather up photos from all sources and then make a book - and print out a copy for each senior almost like a year book for the sport.

Very cool.

Cheaper and faster are photo mugs - team shot on one sice, individual shot on the other. Also very cool.
