<p>I really need some help cutting my personal essay. I have looked at this over and over and I know there are things to cut, but I can’t decide what isn’t essential anymore. I’m at 778 words right now. I need an around 500 cut and an around 600 cut. Ugh… </p>

<p>Show it to a parent, English teacher, homeless person, whoever. Do editing like this in person and talk to the person when s/he is making the cuts. I doubt that you can get good editing online and more likely, people will try to steal your essay, or read it to get some ideas. Good luck with this college essay thing.</p>

<p>I’m not going to offer to help you only because I always end up cutting too much. I agree with venkater though; get someone to cut it for you but sit next to them while they do it. I revised my brother’s essay this past week (he’s a freshman in high school) because he was failing a class that I got an A in and got him a C because I cut out all his relevant information since in my eyes, it was irrelevant. Oops.</p>
