Thanks for confirming it. Both are SUNY’s, and SUNY Buffalo State College is not the same as SUNY- Buffalo, but it’s pretty confusing. (I’ll add them to the thread about colleges that are easily confused).
How much can your mom give you “out of pocket” (from her current income)?
Where would you get the money to transfer? You can only borrow $5500 as a freshman, $6500 as a soph, and $7500/year as a junior and senior.
What are your net costs for Buffalo and New Paltz [the cost of attendance - grants & scholarships (Pell + TAP + the EOP scholarship)] but before loans?
NYS colleges cost ~$20k/year. With full Pell and TAP you’d probably have a net cost of $10-12k. After the student loan ($5500) your net would be ~$5-7k. Will the EOP scholarship cover that? Can your parents contribute anything? You have to attend the summer program, so I’d pick SUNY New Paltz and ask your mom if she can help buy you a laptop.
New Palz looks pretty good. I know that was not your original post. Much better graduation rate. More smart people like you. More people with good study habits. And they have a pretty pond.
