Need help fitting my new watch.

My husband took me to buy a new watch for our anniversary later this year. The premiere jeweler was having a once a year watch sell and he wanted to buy me a Cartier. He wanted to surprise me on our actual anniversary, but he also wanted me to pick it out. Well, I finally convinced him that I wouldn’t enjoy a watch for that kind of money. But I do need a new watch, mine finally broke 6 months ago.

So, I found a beautiful one that was expensive enough for what he wanted to give me, but not so much that I cringe. I know he wanted me to love a Cartier, but he agree the one I bought was more me (remember I love big and bling).

So, what’s the problem? It is tight on my wrist and won’t budge (I don’t like watches that move, but this was too snug especially if I swell), but the links are 7/8 inch and it’s swimming on my arm, which I hate. The watch does not have the feature where you can fine tune that.

So, I want the watch. Does anyone know of something I can stick on the backside that is unnoticeable. At first I was thinking a little bit of moleskin, but you guys are so creative!

What about just replacing the band with one that fits?

Hmmmm…good idea, didn’t think of that. However, this watch has a removable band, where o can put on leather bands. But I would wear it most often with the two tone metal. I can ask them, though.

Ask the jeweler!

I did mention something to the saleslady and she just looked at me. I think they were really busy and she made the sale, and probably wanted to move on. I’ll go back this week when it’s not so busy.

Yep…and take your receipt. If they can’t or won’t adjust the band to fit you…return the watch. Most jewelry store can do this even on less costly watches. Seems like they absolutely should be able to do so on a more costly watch…unless it’s not an adjustable band. If that is the case…they should be able to get you one that fits.

The watches in the stores often don’t fit…and need adjustment.

Absolutely, you go back to the jeweler. They can likely order another same band. If not in stock.

Not sure why moleskin, if it’s already snug.

@conmama is the watch too big or too small? You wrote both the above comments.

Regardless…go back to the jeweler.

They originally fit it and it was snug. They went to put on a link and it was too big. I wore it out like that to see if I could get used to it. I can’t. I don’t know how ordering another band will work if this is the type of band that clips on. But I agree, they should work with me to figure something out. I bet I get more decent customer service for this when I go back. They were swamped with the sale.

If I understand correctly, with the rather large (7/8") links that come with the watch, it is either too loose or too snug.

I don’t think there is a better solution than to get a different band, or failing that, to just return it.
