Need Help For Junior Scheduling!

Hey guys, I’m a current sophmore who needs some help choosing courses for next yr. My prefered major for college is cs. When choosing courses, I take in factors like relevant college credit, gpa boost, and obvs diffculty/time commitment. Due to this, I wanted some expert advice.

Current - subject to change
Core:
English - AP LAnd (confirmed)
Math - Ap Calc AB (confirmed)
History - DE U.s OR APUSH (not sure, leaning slightly towards DE)
Science - Research Physics (confirmed)
Other Courses:
AP CSA - (self-explanatory/confirmed)
Blank

Blank - (online so must be easy course compared to rest)

Blank Options - AP bio, Ap Stats, Ap econ, Ap pysch,

Would appreciate some advice, thanks!

A few questions:

What science courses have you already taken?

What level of foreign language have you already taken?

ive took research bio, and currently taking research chem.

i’m currently taking german 4, and have exceeded the required credit

No fine arts? Music, art, drama? Something like that?

And is one of your blank periods PE and Health?

i took pe over the summer so I finished the credit for that

I’m not very passionate in fine arts comapred to stem. I did take them in middle school but never found them enjoyable.

APStats isn’t awful. What about APES? Is much easier than other AP classes but still gets the weight. APUSH is a beast, especially on block scheduling. I’d find an honors elective or two. All AP classes is too much.

I’ll give my opinion. I think you should take one fine arts course of your choice….art, music, drama.

It’s great you have an interest in STEM. But it’s also good to try other things too.

Our state has a fine arts requirement for HS graduation. You need to check your state and school district requirements.

You only needed one PE course?

for us its cte or fine arts, and I’ve already took a fair share of cte courses so basically have fulfilled that credit.

I took pe online for 9th and tenth.

Yeah I’ve been heavily leaning into taking ap stats. Ap envior has been on my radar but I’ve been thinking of doing that senoiur year as a chill ap. But again speaking from someone who hasn’t been through this process. I appreciate your input, thanks.

What is CTE?

career and technical education

Mine is doing it senior year (only senior in the class), and she definitely is thankful to have an easy AP.

I don’t understand this last part. Are you planning to add an online AP class in addition to your regular high school schedule? Or is this part of your high school schedule somehow?

adding on

Check out the common data sets of schools you’re interested in. Some recommend arts classes—Brown, for example, has a year of visual/performing arts in the “recommended” column.

This will also help with getting a sense of foreign language requirements/preferences.

If your goal is CS in California, you MUST have a performing or visual art class. It can be graphic design, ceramics, choir, AP art history, DE Music appreciation…

Otherwise, limit yourself to 4 APs or equivalent per year.

Will you have a math course for senior year after Calc BC?
