Need help from smart lawyers Tonight

Quick question for all you law braniacs out there.

I’m writing a paper on Socrates tonight and I need your help: What’s it called when a trial has to be moved to another district because the district in which the crime was committed is completely biased in favor of one side or the other before the trial even begins?

(If that Q was too convoluted, think about what happened to Kobe Bryant. They couldn’t have the trial in Eagle County because the girl he “raped” was from there and he obviously would have lost so they moved it.) What’s that called?

Any response is much appreciated.

i’m not a smart braniac or lawyer, but maybe you are looking for the words “trial relocation?”

I’m not sure. I think that is the layman’s term for it. I need like the official term.

Then again, I could be an idiot and you could be completely right. Thanks though!

did you try wikipedia…doesn’t seem like a question that requires much

What would you like me to search? I tried trial relocation… nothing. Using the text I orginially proposed, what of that would you have liked me to search?

Change of venue?

Bingo! Muchas gracias.

It was also in a Simpsons episode …

Change of venue is it.
