So for the last two years, I’ve been diligent about backing up my computer onto ClickFree, which someone – toneranger?? – suggested. It finally happened: My old computer got fried due to a power surge, and now I have my brand new computer. I can’t for the life of me figure out how to get all the stuff that’s in my ClickFree device (like, photos, my iTunes library, documents) to mosey on over to the new computer. I’ve got the cable connected and on my new computerIi can see that ClickFree is labeled Disc E, but I can’t get it into my new computer’s hard drive – which is my goal.

Ideas?? Thanks in advance.

When the Clickfree opening page comes up (the one that says 25 seconds till scan will start) there is a button at the bottom of the page that says “transfer/restore.” I’ve never had to restore anything, but that’s where I’d start.

Yes, thank goodness. I had to go to clickfree.com and download their manual, then follow some steps for troubleshooting. I finally got the right “screen” with the countdown. From there, I just clicked. It took a few hours to download everything, and I was dashing in and out of the house to take care of some errands, but I finally got it all to download.

Thanks for your help, LMNOP!!

I want to know about “ClickFree”!

Share please!

Toneranger recommended it for me a few years ago, when I was afraid I had lost my hard drive. I went on line to find it and buy it. It cost somewhere in the range of $79. Every week or so, you literally just plug the d*mn thing into your computer, and any new files – e.g., your iTunes library, photos, documents, etc. – gets backed up in ClickFree.

We had a power surge after our blizzard in the NorthEast, and my computer got totally fried. I am very happy I had ClickFree!! I was able to transfer everything from computer A to new computer B. I’m a [relatively] happy camper. [Cost of new computer aside . . . ]

Hmmmm. Still trying to find where iTunes is hiding . . . .

Actually, it’s weird. The music is there, but I can’t find iTunes, and my iPod isn’t syncing.

You may have to download iTunes again and then plug in your iPod.

That’s exactly what I did.

It’s interesting – all the music was there, but I had to download iTunes. Then, when I plugged in my iPod, it warned me that an iPod can’t use two computers, so it asked me if i wanted to delete all my music from my iPod and then sync it to my new computer. I said yes, and it took around 15 minutes. Unfortunately, it didn’t keep my playlists, so I had to recreate them.

That took about half an hour.

Also, I no longer have my ratings, the number of times a song has played, the last time it played, and the album art.

BUT – I have the music, and that’s the most important.

All’s well that ends well!
