d. hearing…security
e. procurement…account

Ok so when I was answering this question I had like, no idea what almost any of these words mean. I already know that the answer is A, but do u guys have any good methods of approaching this even if u didn’t know what the words meant and still get the right answer?

Look at the second word first, and eliminate all the ones that make no sense. In this example d and e don’t work and you should know the meaning of those words. Now, with a, b, c, being left and not knowing the meanings of any of them, look at the first word choice and try them. A rebate wouldn’t work, that’s what you get after you spend the money and we say a cash advance, not advance of cash… Now your down to A and B. Without knowing the meaning you have a 50-50 chance. Try to think of words with the same root or times your hear the word. Like deferment, you know deferred whose college decision is delayed, inducement reminds me of pregnancies being induced to make the baby come out, death row prisoners hope to get a last minute reprieve.

To increase the accuracy of your guesses, study roots, prefixes and suffixes. Hope that helps
