No, not at all. Last year, I too, was like you. I worried about my college apps, asked a lot of questions, and thankfully, got them all answered. Therefore, it’s only right for me to pass on my knowledge to you guys.

Oneday: I doubt that they’d mind at all. I’m sure others will be sending their scores before their apps too, so the UC will probably have a system to matching the SAT scores with apps. True, if you wait, then you’ll eventually have to pay that fee for each college you choose. Only $9.5/college? I thought it was more last year. No, whichever way you send your scores, it will NOT affect your chances. What WILL affect your chances are: poor essays, low gpas, low SAT scores, MISSING THE DEADLINES, and a case of bad luck where they lose your stuff or something. I don’t have a clue how the collegeboard sends your scores, but I doubt it’s electronically due to the fact that there are just too many viruses and system malfunctions lurking around for it to be a reliable way of sending crucial materials. My best guess is that they send by mail, which would explain why you’ll have to pay the shipping fee. But, if in the case they ARE sending them electronically, then they’re ripping everyone off with that fee for each college. Those bastards………

AnaAlex: send it as soon as you feel that it is completely ready. if you haven’t already done so, have some friends/teachers/relatives look over your essays to see if they have any tips for you. it is best to ask people who went to or are in college (they know more about what they are looking for in the essays), or people who are good at writing. The contents of the essay are more important than the flow, but it definately doesn’t hurt to have an excellent essay.

the essay is part of the application. it should be the very last thing on the application. last year there were 3 windows to fill in the essays. they have 3 relatively general topics and you choose which one will be your long one. i’m not quite sure but i think it’s 1000 words total for all three so you do 500 words for one and 2 that are 250 words each. each one doesn’t have to be exactly 250 or 500, but the computer cuts you off at a total of 1000 (or whatever the actual number is) words. this means you could have two that are 260ish words each, and then one that is 480ish, just as long as the TOTAL isn’t over 1000 you’re good.

mmm that’s the personal statement right?? because they asked me 3 questions and i have to answer them with 500 words, in total they have to be like of 1000 words… ??? " i’m lost "
