Need help on project

Hi all,

I am newbie here and I need your inputs on my side project for this summer.

I am taking this summer to work on a web application which help students share their colleges application progress with parents. However, I am not sure whether I am going to waste my time to develop something that you will never use :(

Basically, students can enter the application checklist for each school such as:

 • Deadline
 • Take Test SAT I, SAT 2
 • Request LORs
 • Write Essay
 • Request transcripts
 • Send out application

Then students can share these information to their parent. Please tell me what do you think about a system like that? Is it useful?

Thank you very much

My kids used excel spread sheets to track processes. They didn’t need a website to help them but some might.

Thanks very much for your reply 2cakes.

I think the website would be useful for students who are a little bit disorganized.

Do you mind if I ask how many school did your kids apply for? It seems to me that more than 10 schools can cause the troubles to keep tracking everything.

Thanks,

there are some similar resources available online, for instance the Collegeboard site (a great resource for searching for colleges but it has so much that it can be a little overwhelming). Below is a link to a checklist they have that you might want to check out for ideas; they also offer some free online organization tools that you might look at as well

Thank you very much for the link. A great checklist! I found their website quite confusing.

I think I should focus on how one can manage the checklist with ease. It means the website will do everything and students only have to put a check and don’t have to worry where he/she wrote it down. Furthermore, they can print it our when ever they want.

Once again, many thanks for your inputs.
