My daughter is looking at McNeese State in lake Charles, LA, University of Louisiana in Monroe, Midwestern State in Wichita Falls, TX and University of South Alabama in Mobile. To go she would need to be pretty close or at the instate rate, which she qualifies for at at least 2-3 so far. We are from Colorado–she’s pursuing a BS in Radiologic Sciences. ANy advice on these towns/schools??
What is her SAT or ACT score…and her GPA?
U South Alabama is a very good school. It has one of the state’s two medical schools. It is in the city of Mobile, which is a port city, and it can seem similar to New Orleans in architecture because of its early French influences.

What are your D’s stats? Are they high enough to get enough merit from UAB for that degree? If not, is your D retesting? Taking both the SAT and ACT?
In addition to looking at the schools, does she have a preference of where she wants to live after graduation (TX, LA, CO, AL or where she can first get a job?)
If Radiologic Sciences has state boards, may be able to find other programs that meet your needs by searching state by state, or professional association.
UAB and USA both have a lot of medical with the school focus (both have medical schools and other medical programs). Not the case with the other schools you mentioned.
If ACT/SAT is only thing holding back on qualifying for merit, can and should re-test. Note deadlines on test scores accepted, school by school.
Of all the cities listed, I would rather be in Mobile – a nice place, as mom2collegekids mentions. Also, USA has a pretty good reputation for its health-related programs.
I would also look into the University of Alabama-Birmingham, as SOSconcern suggests.
